How bee works
A real input method
bee isn't a floating window you copy-paste out of. It installs as a macOS input source (an input method), so the text it produces goes straight to wherever you're typing — your editor, browser, chat app, or terminal.
On-device, always
Your microphone audio is transcribed locally by a speech model running on your Mac. No audio is uploaded; there's no cloud service and no account. The only times bee uses the network are to download the model (once) and to validate your license.
Choose your model
bee ships two models you can switch between in Settings → Transcription:
- 1.7B — higher quality (the default).
- 0.6B — faster and lighter.
Switching downloads the model if needed and restarts bee to load it.
Languages
bee transcribes 20+ languages. Leave it on Auto-detect, or force a specific language in Settings → Transcription → Language.
